previewing the squads: penn

penncrestThe Quakers were dealt a significant and cruel blow when an injury forced junior Sara Coenen out of the pool early this month … Last year Coenen dominated the backstrokes at the Championshps … She even set a meet record in the 200 back … She would have been the overwhelming favorite to defend her titles, but Coach Schnur has three school record holders who will be in Nassau’s waters — juniors Amy Reams (50 free) and Stephanie Nerby (500 free) as well as sophomore Naomi Delphin (200 fly) … He can also look to an emerging star in freshman Laura Klick, who won the 100 breast against Harvard and gave Princeton’s Courtney Kilkuts a tough battle in that event … The team’s top diver, Melissa Gardel, will look to score as well.

2008 Finish — 959.5 pts; 5th place
