aemisegger lowers mark in the 500 free

Alicia Aemisegger (’10, Princeton) broke another record — this time one of her own.

Last year, Aemisegger dropped the mark to 4:40.45, but shaved off an additional .12 in the preliminaries today. However, in the final, she went under 4:39 (4:38.96) and rewrote the books yet again. The Nassau County Aquatic Center does not have official pool records, but chances are pretty good that if they did, Alicia’s time would be right there.

Aemisegger’s time is an automatic national qualifying time for 2009. Hard to imagine that in 2007 the record stood at 4:43.50.

Aemisegger’s main competition came from Harvard’s Alexandra Clarke – who dropped a 4:42.84.
